Brain Compatible Differentiated Instruction

Download Description

Brain Compatible Differentiation for Tier 1 Classroom Instruction:

A Framework for Quality

Using twelve principles of the brain and learning (Caine and Caine) to create a palette of brain-friendly strategies (Pete and Fogarty), participants learn how to differentiate the teaching/learning process into rich, rigorous and relevant learning for increased student achievement and enhanced self-esteem.

Targeting key concepts of differentiation (Tomlinson), teachers skillfully make subtle and substantive changes to standards-based content, to teaching/learning processes and to the student product options. In turn, they use a compendium of best practices (Marzano, Pickering and Pollock) to address the diverse talents and needs of the students in their classrooms.

With an understanding of the critical elements of response to intervention Tier 1 quality instruction, the focus is on designing with the end in mind (Wiggins and McTighe). The overriding objective is to develop comprehensive and effective Tier I quality instruction that transfers (Fogarty and Pete) directly to the success of students in k12 classrooms.

Participants will try, test, and transfer to their classroom situations:
