Sue Marcus Augustine
Sue, a former special education teacher, international consultant, author, and child health advocate, brings innovative strategies to teaching and learning. A lifelong learner herself, Sue combines all of the Best Practices in teaching with health and wellness. Emphasizing brain nutrition, her passion is nutrition and behavior. She has developed a program called, “The Hungry Brain”, and believes that a missing component in the education system worldwide is the aspect of brain nutrients and addressing biochemical individuality in learners. She sees this area as a key consideration for differentiated learning.
Susan Augustine is the author of, Tools for the Cooperative Classroom, Thinking About Nutrition: The New Nutrition Education, Attention Deficit Disorder: What We Know, What It Means, What We Can Do, and, The Hungry Brain: The Nutrition Cognition Connection.
As an international consultant, Sue addresses areas of the constructivist classroom, including brain-based learning, cooperative learning, multiple intelligences, differentiation, and integrated curriculum, as well as leadership areas of facilitation and coaching. She has worked throughout the United States, and has recently represented RFA Professional Development Programs in Singapore, with the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Augustine has worked extensively with second career teachers and alternative certification programs at Roosevelt University, and she is currently mentoring student teachers at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. In her new role, she networks with school leaders throughout the Chicagoland area, and places student teachers with quality-minded educators. Sue is known for her lively presentations. Her caring personality shows through, and her work, in the educational arena, is applauded as no other.
